HTC Touch Diamond2: Director’s cut

HTC Touch Diamond2 is next on our roll call of MWC debuts but this time it's less about the brand spanking novelty and more about balanced and sensible upgrades. People tend to have second thoughts about sequels but this one here is signed by HTC and may as well be the director's cut of a blockbuster.
It is only recently that Windows Mobile fans are receiving the treatment they deserve after years of undeserved exile. The WinMo devices are no longer stigmatized as ugly bricks with awkward handling and HTC are one of the main agents of this change. The HTC Touch Diamond was one of the most complete devices and its stand-out styling earned it well deserved popularity.
Key features:
3.2" 65K-color WVGA display
Latest TouchFLO 3D
Qualcomm MSM7200A 528 Mhz CPU and 288 MB RAM
Dedicated graphics chip (64MB RAM reserved for graphics)
Quad-band GSM support
3G with HSDPA 7.2Mbps and HSUPA 2Mbps
Wi-Fi and built-in GPS receiver
Stereo FM radio with RDS
5 MP auto focus camera with excellent image quality
microSD card slot
Touch-sensitive zoom bar
MS Office Mobile document editor
Opera 9.5 web browser
Standard miniUSB slot and Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP
Teeter game
Great audio quality
YouTube client
Excellent video playback

Samsung S8300 UltraTOUCH: Touch, slide, shoot

Samsung S8300 UltraTOUCH, otherwise dubbed as the Tocco Ultra edition, joins in on the bandwagon of full touch handsets that seem to be occupying the upper range of the market quite successfully. Nothing can compare to the ease of use of a touchscreen phone - given the user interface is done right. And Samsung have put a lot of effort in their proprietary TouchWiz interface.
The Samsung S8300 UltraTOUCH is definitely among the most exciting devices that saw daylight during this year's MWC. We took a closer look at its beta-version and were impressed but the final one is even more impressive. No-one's claiming it's perfect, but it certainly has plenty to show off about.
The handset is known under different names across the world. You may hear people calling it UltraTOUCH, Tocco Ultra Edition (or Tocco Ultra) or just the S8300. But regardless of the name it's hiding behind, there's still the same classy touchscreen slider with an alphanumeric keypad.

Key features:
Classy touchscreen slider with an alphanumeric keypad
Commendable build quality
Quad-band GSM and 3G with HSDPA support
8 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash, geo-tagging, face and smile detection, image stabilization, wide dynamic range and D1 video@30 fps
2.8" 16M color AMOLED touchscreen display with 400 x 240 pixel resolution
Anti-scratch screen surface
Accelerometer for screen auto rotate
Proximity sensor for auto screen turn-off
MicroSD card slot (up to 16 GB), 1 GB included
Built-in GPS receiver with A-GPS support, Google Maps
Stereo Bluetooth (A2DP)
DivX/XviD video support
Stereo FM radio with RDS, FM recording

Palm Pre's little bro to be launched later this year?

Like this one: according to BusinessWeek the manufacturing cost of a Pre is 138 US dollars which is way lower than iPhone's 174 US dollars or even BlackBerry Bold's 169 US dollars.
The next thing going on in Rumorlandia is that Pre's Mom and Dad are expecting its smaller brother later this year. We admit it does sound unsubstantial, as even the original Pre is still awaiting its release date.
It is supposed that the mini version of Pre (shall we say Mini-Pre?) will be targeted at other markets.
Supposedly, the Mini-Pre will also run the new WebOS but it's not clear whether there will be a hardware keypad.
Until then, we'll keep on waiting for the day the GSM-version of the Palm Pre becomes available.
By the way, you could be among the first to get one. All you need is a bit more luck and reviewers skills since Palm are looking for the Palm Real Reviewer (only US residents over 18 years of age may apply). Why not give it a shot?
